NEW YEAR: MOROCCO AND THE SAHARA DESERT

DAY 1

DECEMBER 25 (TUESDAY): 1/2 DAY TOUR OF THE JEWISH TOWN OF CASABLANCA WITH A TRANSFER TO MARRAKECH

Overnight: Marrakesh

Welcome to Casablanca.  Casablanca is the largest city in Morocco and serves as the country’s financial capital.  Home to over 3,000 Jews, Casablanca represents Morocco’s largest Jewish community. Start off the day with a short visit to the Mosque of Hassan II, the largest in Morocco.   The Mosque of Hassan II is noted as the second largest Mosque in Africa!  Continue to the Jewish Museum of Casablanca, where you’ll be delighted by over 700 square meters of religious and artistic renderings of the history of Jewish Morocco.  Dine on a fabulous lunch in an authentic and classic Kosher restaurant before taking in a panoramic tour of historic Casablanca.  End the day with a relaxing drive to beautiful Marrakesh.   Allow our amazing hotel to honor you with a special candlelight welcome dinner reserved for our treasured guests.

DAY 2

DECEMBER 26 (WEDNESDAY): FULL DAY RELAXED EXPLORATION OF ESSAOUIRA

Overnight: Marrakesh

Hop aboard for a full-day excursion to the town of Essaouira.   Just a short 2-hour drive from Marrakech, Essaouira is an historic fort and fishing port.  It is well known as one of the most popular excursions departing from the busy and bustling city of Marrakech.   Take a break and enjoy the traditional culture and character of the quiet medi-evil seaside town of Essaouira.  The tour picks up again as we move on past Chichaoua Village where you can stretch your legs and learn about the famous Moroccan Argan oil cooperatives and visit the Berbers market.  As we head back to the hotel you can decompress from the day’s adventure knowing you will soon be luxuriating in our hotel’s pool and spa.  Enjoy a relaxing dinner and look forward to another exciting day ahead!

DAY 3

DECEMBER 27 (THURSDAY): ADVENTURE FIELD OUTING TO OUKAIMDEN, OURIKAVALLEY AND THE VILLAGE OF SETTI FATMA

Overnight: Marrakesh

Enjoy a hearty breakfast before you start off the action-packed day.  We will take off to North Africa’s highest ski resort, Oukaimden.  Located 3200 meters above sea-level, Oukaimden presents a beautiful snow-covered oasis.  We will depart Oukaimden and head for the Ourika Valley. Take in the breathtaking Ourika Valley settled amongst the shadows of the snow-capped High Atlas peaks.  One of the most well-preserved valleys in Morocco, Ourika Valley will present plenty of photo opportunities for you and your intimate travel party.  Burn off the morning’s calories with a hike in the beautiful waterfalls of Setti Fatma village before continuing back to the comforts of your hotel in Marrakech.  Once back at the hotel, the night is yours to fill to your heart’s content.  Enjoy a relaxing dinner with your companions or retire to your chambers for an early night.

DAY 4

DECEMBER 28 (FRIDAY): KABALAT SHABBAT

Overnight: Marrakesh

This is the day you will get to discover both sides of the amazing city of Marrakech: Old and New.  Marrakech is two cities in one.  First you will notice the old city of the Medina, comprised of intertwining narrow passageways and charming little shops where you can buy meaningful trinkets and souvenirs.  Here you will also find the former Jewish Quarter of the Melah which really captures the original and historic vibrancy of Jewish society in Marrakech.  Take in the Lazema Synagogue which is the main synagogue in Marrakech and one of the only ones open to the public today.  Explore the remnants of Jewish communal buildings and soak in the history of the Jewish culture of Marrakech.  Take photographs of the brilliant Bahaia Palace, one of the major masterpieces of Moroccan architecture.  If you are looking for modern flair, you will be thrilled by Ville Nouvelle with its modern and cosmopolitan European flair. In Ville Nouvelle, you will discover cozy parks, art galleries and even wine bars.  In the late afternoon you’ll head back to the hotel to prepare for an authentic Shabbat Dinner.

DAY 5

DECEMBER 29 (SATURDAY): SHABBAT AND AN EVENING AT JAMA EL FNA

Overnight: Marrakesh

Shabbat will be a day of relaxing, sleeping, eating and lying by the pool.   Recharge in the creature comforts offered by the hotel or take advantage of the luxury of lying poolside for the afternoon.  Resume your holiday with an evening visit to the busy and Magical Square of “Jemma El Fna.”  Jemma El Fna is a destination for a magical night.

You will be delighted by everything it offers from snake charmers to acrobats – from musicians to artists. You will be mesmerized by a unique experience that you will never forget.

DAY 6

DECEMBER 30 (SUNDAY): AITBENHADDOU AND OUARZAZATE

Overnight: AitBenhaddou

oday we start our exciting Journey to the Sahara Desert!   Journey across the Tizi n Tichka Pass, one of the mountain passes of the High Atlas peaks, over 2100 meters above sea level on our way to the ancient village of Ait Benhaddou.  This fortified yet charming Moroccan village was declared amongst the country’s eight world heritage sites.  AitBenhaddou is even more famous for being a backdrop for many Hollywood movies including “Aladdin” and the infamous cable series “Game of Thrones.”  Continuing on, we visit the Kasbah of Taourite, a beautiful and well-preserved construction that houses many heroic statues and is home to a unique cinematographic arts museum.   After a day full of activities, you will be grateful to arrive back at our beautiful hotel for a very special dinner.

DAY 7

DECEMBER 31 (MONDAY): NEW YEAR’S EVE! DAY TOUR THRU TODRA GORGE, TAMTOUCHTE, AND IMLILCHIL FOLLOWED BY A NIGHT AT OUR PRIVATE SAHARA LUXURY CAMP

Overnight: Sahara Desert – Luxury Private Camp

On our second adventure to the Sahara, we will drive to the Todra Gorge, and up to the villages of Ait Hani, Tamtouchte and Imlilchil. Experience the awe inspiring Todra Gorge with its impressive cliffs rising dramatically up to 300 meters divided by the narrowest of corridors.    After a leisurely lunch we will make our way on to Marzuga, where we will climb into our 4X4 jeeps.  We’ll cross the dunes and admire the beautiful landscapes of the Sahara Desert.

Come nightfall, you’ll be enveloped by a traditional desert welcome, taking lodging in a rustic Berber tent.  Here you’ll spend the night. Take in the quiet of your private tent or highlight your trip with a sunset camel ride.  Let the adventurer in you go dune sand boarding, an experience you will find almost nowhere else on Earth.  Savor an authentic and classic Kosher Moroccan dinner around the campfire and engage your fellow travelers in a percussion circle before falling asleep under a blanket of Moroccan stars.

DAY 8

JANUARY 1 (TUESDAY): NEW YEAR’S DAY IS HERE!!!

Overnight: Fez

On this glorious desert morning, we will wake up before the Sun, and climb aboard our camels for a brisk ride to the high dunes.  Here we will watch a breathtaking Sunrise and appreciate the blessings of a New day…a New beginning…a New year.

Once the sun has greeted the world, we will return to camp for a proper Desert Breakfast. We’ll climb into our 4X4 jeeps back to the civilization so we can embark back to Fez.

Arriving in Fez, we will be treated with class to a private dinner served in our beautiful Riad suite.

DAY 9

JANUARY 2 (WEDNESDAY): FEZ

Overnight: Fez

The day will be devoted to the Jewish history of Fez.   The golden ages of the Jewish community of Fez lasted from the 9th to 11th century. At once a thriving community of some 22,000 Jews in 1947, there are less than 100 Jews today.   The city, however, is still rich in Jewish memories, Synagogues and a Jewish Cemetery. We will pay a visit to two Synagogues and the Mikveh, we will take a walking tour through the magnificent Jewish Cemetery as well.

We will take a spell from history and stroll the shops in the Medina and the Kasbah where we can cherish the smells and atmosphere of the special city of Fez.

DAY 10

JANUARY 3 (THURSDAY): FEZ AND CASABLANCA AIRPORT

After a wonderful and exciting adventure, it is time to get ready to travel back home.  The New Year is upon us.  We will start the final day with a relaxing breakfast before leaving the hotel on our way to Casablanca Airport.  It is here where we will say our goodbyes to our newfound friends and board our flights home.

per person based on a couple sharing a room. A minimum of 10 travellers must sign up in order for this tour to occur.
